originalhank asked: Is this "its cool to be angry about video games" thing a fad or is it woven into the fabric of video game culture? I'm talking about the endless versions of angry video game nerd and rant videos and articles where people bash whatever the new popular thing is at the time.
It’s everything. Comic book fans hate comics. Wrestling fans hate wrestling. Any sort of passion-inspiring media (what assholes like to refer to as “geek culture”) is this way. No one is ever happy and it’s pretty fucking lame. We should be able to discuss what we do and don’t like about something without everything having to be the best thing ever made or the worst. The rise of fanboy bullshit happened a long time ago, but that doesn’t make it suck any less today. The problem is that the counter to it wasn’t reasonable discussion, it was people who want to fight that fanboy about anything, no matter what.
I suppose I get the appeal. Some people are really shitty and since slapping people in their faces is sort of frowned upon, huffy posts on the internet is the next best thing.
But people making videos and playing LOOK AT ME I’M MAD characters like that are just playing into message board fanboy rage. Easy target.
Anonymous asked: Is Nintendo better off ditching the Wii U at this point? The Vita is consistently outselling it (not by much), and people just don't care about it. This past week in Japan, The Vita sold more units because of God Eater 2, and the Atelier Rorona re-release, and the Wii U had a Mario game! And Lightning Returns cost more, and sold 200,000 more units than Mario's 95,000. What can they do? Re-messaging can't do anything to help the apathy around the system. Should they just Xbox 360 it, and ditch?
Nintendo is a company built on loyalty, and it’s not about to abandon even the meager few who have purchased a Wii U. It might make more sense to cut its losses and focus exclusively on 3DS, but I don’t expect that to happen. If Nintendo was a traditional company, Satoru Iwata would have started laying off employees by now. If he won’t do that, he won’t abandon his customers, either. Wii U will be a platform with excellent first-party Nintendo releases, alongside a few third-party games that Nintendo dishes out some money for, and that’s about it. It’s going to be another GameCube, but you know what? GameCube had some kick ass games.
(P.S. Mario Sunshine haters are the worst.)
Hell yeah! I really enjoyed Mario Sunshine. The GameCube was the only system I had for that entire generation and I loved it.
E3 Is Over!
Well, actually E3 2012 has been over for a few days now and after trying to break my Twitter feed with updates I have now had the chance to sit down and collect some thoughts into a blog post. So if anyone will indulge me, I’m going to pretend I know something about games and write an absurdly long post for, most likely, no one to enjoy. For every idea that I had for something to write about, it lead to several other thoughts and ideas so I’m going to try to break up the blog into smaller, bite-size sections so readers won’t get too bored going through big chunks all at once, and to give the option of skimming. So, here goes nothing, we’ll start off with games, those are what people want right?

E3 Has Begun!
It is that time of late spring, early summer again and E3 is making the internet explode with nerd once more. I will probably be dusting off the blog and writing some thoughts later this week, but for now, if anyone cares, follow me on Twitter @bigevil1987 to hear all my stupid jokes and comments about E3 happenings. Thanks to anyone who clicks on me!
